Biographical Info

from Bloomfield, NJ, Uche is a junior studying Molecular and Cellular Biology, Spanish for the Professions, and Entrepreneurship and Management. Recognizing the lack of representation in specialized medical fields and the resultant health disparities that continue to persist for minority groups, she hopes to become a physician. Specifically interested in dermatology due to particular dermatological diseases that predominately affect black women, such as Hidradenitis suppurativa, Uche realized that resultant health disparities still exist for women of color and greatly impact their quality of life. This led to her research at the Hopkins’ Department of Dermatology. Outside of academics, Uche is a leader of InterVarsity’s Women’s Fellowship, a TA for Organic Chemistry Lab, and African Student Association and HOPE member. She also volunteer at her local church and develops the social media platform for Prospect Pediatrics. In her free time, Uche enjoys cooking, baking, tennis, and yoga!
