Biographical Info

Katherine Hu is a junior from Davis, California majoring in Biomedical Engineering and minoring in Biophysics. She aspires to become a surgeon, which perfectly aligns with her interests in how medicine and technology can be combined to solve healthcare problems. Katherine currently performs research in a MechE/BME lab where she studies microfluidic diagnostic devices. Outside of WPHLS, Katherine is a member of MedHacks, Blue Key Society, works working with the Institute of Computational Medicine and JHMI Neurology on a clinical sleep study, and a member of BME design team that is trying to develop a low-cost device to treat postpartum hemorrhage. She also volunteers at the Pediatric Emergency department and the Esperanza Center clinic, and was awarded as a Bloomberg scholar. When she’s not busy with class or research, Katherine loves to draw, swim, and make funny puns!
